Our Projects

Ratepayers across eThekwini have the choice to direct membership with the ERPM or to work with us via an affiliated civic body or Ratepayers Association in their area.

01

Rates Protest.

The ERPM made its “name” by running a Rates Protest campaign that successfully held 2,8 Million Rand in safe keeping and away from the city coffers for 3 months. The protest ended in a high court judgement calling for deeper specificity to our plight.

02

Estimate Billing.

Estimated and inflated billing practices from the Metro have emerged as a frequent and common complaint among residents of our city and often been the cause for the vulnerable sector of our community going into astronomical arrears and being subjected to ridiculously high interest charges as a penalty. We aim to eradicate the practice of estimated consumption charges in our metro and ensure that residents are billed for the services they consume. Court papers are being finalised to hold the city accountable.

03

Infrastructure damage since the April 2022 floods.

Our Wastewater Treatment Plants are all but dysfunctional. As a basic human right to a clean and healthy environment, the city has been under pressure to remedy the state of our sewer infrastructure that got taken out during the floods. They’ve been slow to act, and we have been pressurising them honour their mandate.
